"All You Need Is Love" is a Beatles song recorded between 14-25 June 1967. Released as a single on 7 July 1967 with "Baby, You're A Rich Man," "All You Need Is Love" became a worldwide No. 1 single. In fact, "All You Need Is Love" became one of the biggest hits the Beatles ever had.

Now, "All You Need Is Love" is a John Lennon song and he deserves full credit for its composition. Paul McCartney, though, was, of course, a major factor in this high point of the Beatles.

Paul has said:
All You Need Is Love' was perfect if you're going to say any message. That's a fine and wonderful message to say.
The Beatles were scheduled to perform on the international "Our World" telecast, and they decided to perform "All You Need Is Love" on both the telecast and to release it as a single. The event, telecast globally on 25 June 1967, occurred while "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was riding the top of the album charts.

It was a brilliant decision to release the song as a single after that much free publicity (a record audience of 400 million people), with "All You Need Is Love" spending three weeks at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom and a week in the United States.

Paul McCartney was later joined by an all-star cast - including Tony Bennett! Ozzy! Clapton! Rod Stewart! - for a rendition of the Beatles' "All You Need is Love" at the Party at the Palace held in London in June 2002. This event commemorated the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
