"And I Love Her" is one of the most beautiful songs in the entire Paul McCartney canon. It has a completely unique feel to it, very heartfelt. "And I Love Her" was on the "A Hard Day's Night" soundtrack and also released as a single on 20 July 1964, the flip side being "If I Fell." "And I Love Her" peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "If I Fell" reached No. 64.
While Paul McCartney composed most of "And I Love Her," George Harrison contributed the guitar solo. Paul admits that the solo "made a stunning difference to the song" and that "And I Love Her" was "the first ballad I impressed myself with."
John Lennon is said to have composed the middle eight, though Paul claims sole or at least partial credit for that, too. They are the only two who would know, as they went off together during the recording session for an hour and came back with that portion.
Strangely enough, Kurt Cobain covered the song. This was not discovered until 2015, over 20 years after his death. His version made the US Hot Singles Sales chart in Billboard at No. 2 and topped the United Kingdom Vinyl Singles Chart - apparently the only time it has ever charted in the UK.
