Mull of Kintyre

"Mull of Kintyre" is the top-selling single in Great Britain, but barely made the charts in the United States. Paul's record label promoted "Girl's School," the B-side of the record, in the States, and it made the top 40. Nobody even knows about "Mull of Kintyre" in the States, which is the funniest insight into the differences between the two cultures you'll ever see.

The story goes that Paul wrote the song with Denny Laine. However, when Denny ran into financial difficulties in the 1980s, he sold his songwriting credit to Paul.

The Mull of Kintyre is a place in Scotland, by the way. Apparently, Paul's farm in the '70s was near it.
