Sing the Changes - as The Fireman

"The Fireman" is Paul McCartney's musical alter ego - or one of them, at least. "Sing the Changes" is an album track off  of Paul McCartney's 2008 "Electric Arguments." While among his lesser-known work, "Sing the Changes" and other "Fireman" tracks are tuneful and appreciated by many fans.

Paul does not just toss off his "Fireman" tracks like scraps from the table for the family dog. He went to great lengths to promote "Sing the Changes" and his other "Fireman" work. McCartney produced a music video of "Sing the Changes" and performed it during his concert atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater in July 2009. It was one of only two songs from that appearance that made it onto the "David Letterman Show" that night. "Electric Arguments" peaked at No. 79 on the British album charts after its release on 24 November 2008, not a bad performance at all for a non-commercial experimental album.

Paul uses the "Fireman" guise for releases of his experimental stuff - he says he just uses random phrases instead of crafting real lyrics - but some of it, like this, is quite good.
