Things We Said Today

"Things We Said Today" was the flip side of "A Hard Day's Night."

"Things We Said Today" is perhaps the best song off the "A Hard Day's Night" album aside from the title song. However, unlike that latter song, "Things We Said Today" is often overlooked. In those days, John Lennon was still the dominant force in the group, but Paul came on strong as time went on. "Things We Said Today" was a raw demonstration of musical talent which displayed Paul McCartney's talents to the maximum.

The Beatles were doing a lot of ordinary promotions at the time, so they performed "Things We Said Today" not just once, but twice for BBC Radio. The programs were Top Gear (14 July 1964) and From Us To You (recorded 17 July 1964 and broadcast 3 August 1964). The Beatles played it for a while in 1964, then shelved "Things We Said Today" permanently.
