Most Paul McCartney fans will probably agree that peak Wings was the 1975-76 Wings Over The World tour. Naturally, the whole thing was filmed, and it turned into one of the most celebrated and renowned tours of all time. While the documentary is called Wings Over the World, in fact, it was filmed entirely in the United States at the Seattle Kingdome and a couple of other venues.
In fact, the Wings Over the World tour was so successful that it was hard to see how the band could ever match it, much less top the Wings Over the World Tour, so Wings sort of fizzled out over the remaining five years of its existence. This is a 1979 documentary of the 1975-1976 tour that is still entertaining even if you're not particularly interested in the historical aspects of it.
"Wings Over the World" was released in the United States on 16 March 1979 on CBS and on 8 April 1979 on BBC2. This film was released by MPL Communications on DVD with the deluxe edition of the Wings Over America live album.
"Wings Over America" was one of those rare tours where you still remember seeing it vividly 40 years later and not in a bad way.
Anyone who says that a concert ticket is a waste of money, well, it's hard to see a better use of your $8 in 1976.
