Badfinger's Come and Get It

Come and Get It, Performed by Badfinger

Badfinger Come and Get It

The classic Badfinger single "Come and Get It" was, as all true Paul McCartney fans know, written and produced by Paul McCartney. Paul personally produced the project and made sure that the singer sounded as much like him as possible. One wonders why he didn't just sing it himself - but the song wound up making Badfinger's career. Since I posted Paul's demo version, I figured I might as well post the finished Badfinger product.

Paul's slightly slower demo version is here. There is an uncanny resemblance between the voices of Paul and Badfinger's lead singer Tom Evans in their two versions of the song. Released on 12 January 1970 in the United States and 5 December 1969 in the United Kingdom, "Come and Get It" hit No. 7 in the United States and No. 4 in the UK. Paul McCartney rarely plays "Come and Get It," but did for the first time in many years publicly in Bologna, Italy on 26 November 2011. Oh, McCartney even appears on the Badfinger single, playing percussion. The other Badfinger band members were Pete Ham (piano), Ron Griffiths (bass guitar), and Mike Gibbins on drums. Badfinger was called The Iveys at the time but the band members switched their name to Badfinger for the McCartney songs for unknown reasons.

Badfinger's "Come and Get It" was released on the Beatles' Apple Records.

"Come and Get It" featured in the "The Magic Christian," a Peter Sellers film that also featured Ringo Starr.
