Paul at Bonnaroo "Helter Skelter"

Paul Wows Them in Tennessee

Paul McCartney at Bonnaroo.

Paul McCartney knows how to play to a crowd better than just about anyone alive, and he proved it again on Day 2 of the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee on June 14, 2013. It wasn't just any crowd, but rather 80,000 adoring fans who appeared quite content with the show.

The amazing thing about Paul is that he still bears down and plays each show by the book as if he were a struggling musician trying to make a good impression. No self-indulgent meanderings or diva moments, just classic sing-alongs with the crowd and the occasional sentimental comment about his former bandmates or what fans in the audience are smoking. Two and a half hours and two encores later, Paul proved once again that, yes, he still has it.

Here is a video of "Helter Skelter," the second encore. This is at the end of a long night, but Paul still does a great job. This person had a great seat, by the way.

And below are stills from the performance.
